In this article we will see how to verify emails using a file. We will see step by step how to upload the email file to the email verification platform, how to download the results and interpret them.
In order to verify emails, we must have an active account of the platform to verify emails. We must validate us in the system and we will access the main screen.
How to upload a file to the email verification platform
In order to validate email addresses we need to upload a file containing the emails. The format of this file can be CSV, XLS or TXT. The content of the file must be grouped in columns with a header for each of the columns.
If you do not have a file with the data well tabulated, we recommend that you only upload the e-mail addresses one below the other.
We must move to the left menu option “Verification”. The file upload wizard will be loaded in the central part. We must select “Select lists” and follow the steps indicated by the wizard.
How to verify a file published on the email verification platform
Once the file is uploaded to the platform, a first pre-analysis will be displayed. If we want to validate the emails we must select “Start” and the process of validating email addresses will be launched. We can see the degree of progress in the same panel although we will receive a confirmation email at the end of the process.
How to download email verification results
Once the email verification process is finished, a green button with the text “Download Results” will appear in the central panel. If we select it, a pop-up will appear asking us about the type of emails we want to download. If we are only interested in the email addresses to which it is safe to send an email marketing campaign, we should select the “Results” option. If, on the other hand, we are interested in all the results of the validation we should select “All results.
The downloaded file can be in CSV or XLSX format. In the first column we will see the result of the validation, while the rest of the columns contain the same values of the published file.
How to interpret the results of checking emails
The addresses to which it is safe to send emails are preceded by the prefix “OK”, the other prefixes present different deliverability problems. Another point to take into account is the prefix “t_” or “p_” that precedes the type of error. This tells us whether the verification failure is temporary or permanent. Errors marked with the prefix “p_” do not change over time.
In the table below you can see a list of error codes and their interpretation.
STATUS | DESCRIPTION |
---|---|
ok | Everything is OK. The address is correct and ready to receive e-mails passing the email address verification tests. |
error | The server indicates that delivery has failed, but there is no information about the email verification failure. |
